After finishing my Uruk-Hai model I was inspired to make something soft and romantic. My thoughts wandered to the Victorian era. Looking at photographs of actresses wearing delicate lace dresses with ruffles gathered by silk ribbons, messy updos tied with bows and garnished with flowers.
The last days of summer have passed, the apples have fallen to the ground but the roses are still in full bloom. I saw it as a sign and let it decide the look for the flower arrangements. To calm my bad conscience of picking the rose apart to capture the material I comforted myself with the thought that the rose will be blooming forever
I started looking through my collection of historical attire I have created and collected over the years trying to find the perfect lace and fabric for her.
Textures for the lace, fabric and roses are captured using my home built light rig. The face and collar base meshes are captured using photogrammetry. All textures are delighted and calibrated using color checker including the iris.
I tiled the lace textures into a trim atlas and used them as borders along her dress.
The hair texture atlas is made using XGen and the hair clumps are hand placed with twist and bend deformers. For shaders and eye setup I turned to Unreal Engine 4 Documentation.
Softwares I used for modeling, calibration, texturing and cleanup are, Maya, Photoshop, Topogun, Photoscan, Xnormal, Zbrush, Substance painter and Xgen.
All Images and gifs are rendered in Unreal Engine 4.
Im excited to share this project i have been working on the past weeks with you. It's been so fun to realize this vision and i hope you will enjoy it.
